SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — Hummingbirds never stay in one place for long, and you'll seldom find a hummingbird that will stay still long enough to pose for a photograph.
Fortunately for San Juan Capistrano resident photographer Kristine Erickson, these two baby hummingbirds posed just long enough for a gorgeous shot. Erickson, who regularly sets out into nature with her camera, spotted these two beauties on her neighbor's patio.
Erickson snapped her shot "just in time" before both baby birds flew away.
Allen's hummingbirds are common along the coast of Southern California, and are generally identified by their stocky and compact appearance, according to AllAboutBirds.com. Young Allen's hummingbirds are bronze-green above with paler coppery sides.
