Description
Phoenix Community, I am looking for a short term foster family for my 14 week old male German Shepard Husky mix puppy named Koda. It would just be until the end of March. I would provide all food, pet accessories and take care of all pet expenses during that time. Backstory: Today I was driving home and witnessed a man throw a dog out the window as he was driving roughly 45-50 miles an hour. These are stories that I have only heard about or watched on social media and I can tell you that witnessing it was absolutely 100X worse and even more so for the poor dog being thrown like trash on the side of the road. I immediately went back to see if the puppy was okay and to my complete surprise he was okay and suffered no injury. I decided to take him home with me. I fully believe that everything happens for a reason...I believe I was meant to save him in that very moment. However, when I went home and introduced him to my roommates foster dog named Mala (American Pitbull Terrier) he was very aggressive towards Koda. Mala is an alfa dog and very territorial apparently and did not get along with him. However, Mala is leaving to Hawaii in three weeks with his owner. We have fostered him up to this point and its time for him to go back home soon which is why I am looking for a short term foster to care for Koda until that time. About Koda: Koda is a German Shepard Husky mix PUPPY and he is very calm and well mannered. He gets along well with other dogs, and children. Not sure about cats. However due to his well mannered behavior I am sure he would do just fine if introduced. He does use the potty outside and he walks well on leash. However, due to him still being a puppy there may be a few accidents time to time. Koda has one blue eye and one brown eye and he loves to be cuddled. I took him to the dog park and he gets along great with other dogs. He knows how to sit and he also will try and climb on your back because he loves piggy back rides. He has his shots however I have not yet gotten him fixed due to his private parts not fully dropped and my vet said for me to wait just a few more weeks before I make him his appointment. He is NOT for adoption as I love him dearly and I truly feel I was meant to be there when this tragic event happened. To keep him safe, I am looking for someone to temporarily house him and love him as I would if he was under my care. The foster would need to fully understand that he is still a puppy and has suffered immense trauma and to take this in consideration before making a decision. I understand it will be hard to not get attached to him as he is so loving. The foster family will become family and will always be able to visit and spend time with him after the foster time is complete. I wouldn't have it any other way :) My only fear is that the family who temporarily fosters will attempt to try and keep him indefinitely and this would completely break my heart. I will be getting him trained as a therapy animal in effort to touch the lives of many by taking him to children's hospitals to visit with young children and teens with disabilities as well as nursing homes so he can brighten people's day and give them something to look forward to. So if the ones fostering attempts to take him, they would not only be taking him away from me but from the hearts of the community as well. I know im taking a risk but I am one who has a plan to touch the lives of many with a simple tail wag and a sloppy kiss and I am reaching out for help so I can hopefully make this dream a reality and to keep Koda safe until it's his time to shine. Please reach out if you or anyone you know can help out. Thank you for reading our story. Hugs and tail wags, Koda and Yana
