Donations Welcome As Police, Firefighters Take Polar Plunge

GENEVA, IL — Geneva police and firefighters are preparing to participate in the annual 2022 Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge at noon Wednesday. Ahead of the spectacle, the police department is looking to secure donations to meet its $8,500 goal. As of Monday afternoon, $8,310 has been collected. The fundraiser raises money to benefit Special Olympics athletes. The deadline to donate — which can be completed online — is Friday. "While this promises to be a little frigid, we don't mind because we are supporting [these] amazing athletes," police wrote on their Polar Plunge page. "Our team has set a personal fundraising goal and we need your help to reach it! Any amount is appreciated — it all goes to one 'cool' cause and gets us that much closer to our icy dip."
