UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A blaze broke out in a residential building on the Upper West Side Monday afternoon, an FDNY spokesperson told Patch. The flames ignited within an apartment at 48 West 73rd Street around 3:30 p.m., according to the FDNY Video posted to the Citizen App shows smoke billowing out of the second floor of the building, which you can watch here. A total of 60 firefighters responded to the flames, FDNY said. The building was evacuated, but there were no injuries, FDNY added. Chief White of the FDNY's 10th Battalion told the WestSideRag that the fire appeared to have started from a "faulty dishwasher." The Rag added that the tenant was not home when the flames ignited. The Upper West Side building is also home to a Starbucks.
