Description
On Friday, February 4, music lovers around Atlanta united at Buckhead Theatre to sing and dance the night away at Dementia Spotlight Foundation’s 9th Annual Alzheimer’s Music Fest. All proceeds from the fest directly benefitted families and individuals living with dementia-related disorders. As a result of generous donations from sponsors and participants, the music fest raised over $100,000. These donations will go towards providing free respite care for local families and support group sessions.
“A huge thank you from all of us at Dementia Spotlight Foundation to those who gave time, support, and dedication to Alzheimer’s Music Fest,” said Whitney DeMarlo Oeltmann, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Dementia Spotlight Foundation. “The money raised will go so far in helping continue our much-needed community programs, including our support groups, educational programming, and connection cafes.”
This fan-favorite event provided concert goers with hours of performances from 10 iconic homegrown bands, including headliners Cracker, Arrested Development and Drivin N’ Cryin, along with artists such as Gurufish and
Zangaro. Onsite displays helped to increase awareness of the effects of Alzheimer’s and dementia on local communities and educational opportunities were available for attendees wishing to support local caregivers.
Through past music fests, Dementia Spotlight Foundation has gifted over 7,000 hours of free respite care to families living with dementia. These donations allow Dementia Spotlight Foundation to continue their focus on life before loss, rights before research and care before cure.
