GLENVIEW, IL — Like every other municipality in Illinois, the Village of Glenview has been dealing with its own unique data points regarding the coronavirus. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 52 people have died due to COVID-19 in Glenview since April 7. That marks the first death, which happened on Oct. 15, in more than seven weeks. The last death in Glenview prior to the latest was one on Aug. 26. The most deaths in a single day since the pandemic began was four on April 14. As of Friday, there have been 1,176 coronavirus-related cases in Glenview, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health. That marks an increase of 86 cases since Oct. 16. For further comparison, there were 70 new cases between Oct. 9-16. In addition, 76,537 people have been tested across zip codes 60016, 60025, 60026, 60029 and 60062, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. That number represents an increase of 5,787 tests since Oct. 16. For further comparison, there was an increase of 4,629 tests between Oct. 9-15. As of Friday, the Cook County Department of Health is reporting 76,614 confirmed cases and 2,019 deaths since the pandemic began. That marks an increase of 9,454 cases and 28 deaths since Oct. 9. For further comparison, there was an increase of 3,584 cases and 27 deaths between Oct. 9-16. The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 14,493 confirmed cases in Cook County long-term facilities and 2,408 deaths. That marks an increase of 123 cases and 11 deaths since Oct. 16. For comparison, there was an increase of 52 cases and seven deaths in the two-week period between Oct. 2-16. In the past, the IDPH has twice temporarily removed some cases and deaths since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.
