Description

Hello hello - I'm forming a band to play out a set of rock/pop/indie songs. The songs are all written and mostly recorded and the project has a name, so it’s not totally ground up, but this is its first live incarnation. Looking for bass, drums and keyboard (more new wave organ-y than 80s synth-y, and not at all acoustic piano-y (those last 2 things are both cool but not right for this project)). You can listen to some of the songs here: https://www.thealarmingrates.com/some-songs If it sounds like something you’re into and would be comfortable playing, and you think you'd be a good fit, please reach out, send a link to some stuff you’ve done, and we can see where to go from there. One specific note about the keyboard, in the recordings there are often 2 guitars, but I want to try the live setup with only one. So a lot of the counter-melody & textural stuff done by a 2nd guitar in the recordings will fall on the keyboard live. It'll be more prominent, and there will be some fun decisions to make about how to translate that stuff. For a little vibe influence reference, my favorite record right now is This Year’s Model by Elvis Costello and the Attractions. The songs in this project aren’t really like those songs, but that vibe is what this project aspires to: fun to listen to, good energy, interesting songwriting. What I really love about the Attractions is that they play with the energy of a great punk band but they’re super melodically intelligent. They’re not too fancy or show-offy but they can really play, and are tight and catchy as hell. OK, thanks!
