Job description Fall Creek is creating a world with better blueberries through its friendly, collaborative team spread across the globe. To help us accomplish this, we are seeking a qualified Intern Molecular Biology. This position will be located in Lowell, Oregon. The Fall Creek Intern Molecular Biology is an opportunity to develop the skills and hands-on experience needed to work in an industry molecular biology research lab. The R&D Molecular Biology Intern will work collaboratively by executing and documenting established lab protocols on plant or bacterial samples submitted for testing. They will also be given an independent project to complete during the internship. What you'll do at Fall Creek: Perform DNA and RNA extraction from plant and bacterial samples. Quantify DNA and RNA extracts using absorbance or colorimetric assays. Use RT-PCR, PCR, qPCR, and gel electrophoresis to analyze DNA and RNA targets. Perform protein extractions from plant samples. Use a variety of ELISA techniques to measure protein expression. What you bring to Fall Creek: Minimum upper division biology or chemistry lab experience. Strong Interest in molecular biology, biology, horticulture, botany or related field. Some experience with micropipettes is preferred. Ability to work in, and maintain, a clean laboratory environment using aseptic technique when necessary. Experience reading and following lab and experiment protocols (Standard Operating Procedures). Use of a microplate reader, with a basic understanding of absorbance and fluorescent based assays.
