GLENVIEW, IL — The Glenview Road railway crossing will be closed to traffic for six days starting on Wednesday, potentially causing traffic and backups in the area.
In a news release, the Village of Glenview said the closure will be at Glenview Road, east of Harlem Road and Lehigh Avenue. The closure will last through Sept. 25.
In the maintenance project, the railroad tracks and rubberized crossing materials for cars will be replaced. Drivers will use Dewes Street as a detour.
While work is ongoing, the village will also begin work on replacing and relocating aging water mains and sewer lines along Pine and Depot Streets.
The city said the water main along Pine Street and the sewer line along Depot Street are both 70 years old.
The work is to be completed by Elk Grove Village contractor DeMeo Brothers Inc., and is expected to cost just under $630,000.
Workers will be on site from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
