Skilled HVAC Tech and Helper Needed for 2-month Gig in New Orleans

Jobs

New Orleans LA

Description

Hello. Redmellon, is award-winning developer in New Orleans. An award-winning housing developer that was walloped by Hurricane Ida. An award-winning developer that has filed 97 individual insurance claims. An award-winning developer that had a backlog of HVAC repairs before Ida. An award-winning housing developer whose chairman and founder is spread very thin right now. His Right-Hand-Man (who is a woman) had the audacity to go into early labor. (While her husband was saying, “Push!, Push! Push!” I was saying, “Hold him In! Hold him In! Hold him in!”) She just got back from maternity leave but she is working part time. That’s where you come in. We are looking to hire 1 HVAC technician and 1 Helper (you provide the helper) to troubleshoot, repair existing HVAC systems and to install new mini-split systems The HVAC technicians will be skilled in cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems. You will be troubleshooting and repairing forced air split systems and installing new mini-split systems. You will be diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems. You will be cleaning coils, adjusting and repairing systems. This is a temporary, two-month gig but it overlaps with Jazzfest so it is not a bad time to be in New Orleans. Housing is provided. We meet at 7:30 a.m. at our warehouse for a pre-work meeting and you are on the job by 8:15. You will be troubleshooting, making repairs, and doing mini-split installs throughout the day and we knock off at 6:00 p.m. We do NOT work weekends or evenings. There may be the very occasional emergency call but that is not your job. We can provide an additional laborer as needed for installing condensers on platforms and other things that may take three people. We have two runners that pick up parts so you should be spending little or no time going to the mechanical supply house or Home Depot. On your first day on the job (for which you will be paid) we will direct you to an HVAC unit that is broken and ask you to make the repair. Or we will have you install a single mini-split system. You will do this before you move in to the apartment in the late afternoon. Compensation • Compensation will be commensurate with experience. • Pay is by direct deposit or check bi-weekly. You will be a 1099 contractor. • Housing is provided in a furnished apartment. It is one apartment for both of you. • We reimburse for mileage at the federal rate. Requirements • High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent. • 2+ year experience as an HVAC technician • Valid driver’s license. • You must have a truck or Van and your own tools. • Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating. • You must be vaccinated and you must wear a mask when inside apartments. (Some of our tenants are elderly and immuno-compromised.)
