Essential Duties The Tooling Technician performs basic setup and/or maintenance of tooling and equipment to support manufacturing. After a production order is complete, responsible for cleaning tools, visually inspecting the tooling for any damage, and communicating any tooling issues. Assemble, repair, rebuild, maintain, clean, store tooling components for die cast, plastic injection molding, and other applications. Inspect/verify tooling components using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges. Occasionally operates surface grinders, mills, drill presses, lathes, etc. on machining operations of moderate complexity. Also responsible for disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling of dies, molds, trim dies, fixtures, etc. Repairing molds to maintain top tooling efficiency, observing safe rigging and mold handling practices, completing mold repair work orders as requested, diagnosing and correcting die and mold quality issues. Needs active learning, judgement, and time management skills, able to handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously and read/interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals. Duties and Responsibilities - Disassemble tooling components. - Perform accurate tooling assembly. - Carefully inspect and evaluate tooling components. - Inspect mechanical components on various machines. - Efficiently clean and store tooling components. - Systematically evaluate damage to tooling components. - Perform surface grinding and setup. - Perform milling setup and locating. - Maintain a clean and orderly work environment. - Other duties as assigned; comply with company procedures and work instructions. - Perform work in safe and environmentally conscientious manner according to company policy. Skills and Qualifications - Knowledge of mechanical assemblies and their functions related to assembly, repair. - Ability to use precision measuring equipment to inspect/verify tooling components, such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges. - Some knowledge of Blue Print reading. - Working knowledge with surface grinders, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments. - Ability to be on your feet up to eight hours per day. - Ability to routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. - Ability to use shop mathematics; ability to learn/use general computer skills. Education/Experience - High School diploma or GED required. College education preferred. - 1-3 years of experience as a Tool and Mold Technician required. Work Environment and Physical Demands Warehouse environment. Moderate noise level and temperature.
