GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. ARRESTS RETAIL THEFT Jorge Jimenez, 35, of the 6000 block of Derby Drive, Gurnee, is accused of retail theft after an investigation that occurred on Aug. 14 in the 2800 block of Pfingsten Road, and was arrested at 12:15 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Cook County Department of Corrections, Chicago. A bond hearing was held on Dec. 9 in Skokie. SPEEDING Jonathan Piedra-Vargas, 23, of the 5700 block of N Jersey Avenue, Chicago, is accused of speeding 35 miles or more over the speed limit when he was clocked at 92 miles per hours in a 40 MPH zone, and was arrested at 2:46 p.m. Dec. 9 in the 1900 block of East Lake Avenue. He was assigned a court date of Jan. 4, 2021 in Skokie. INCIDENTS IDENTITY THEFT A Palmgren Drive resident reported at 10:29 a.m. Dec. 8 that someone made several online purchases using their credit cards and attempted to open new credit accounts. There is no financial loss at this time.A Valor Court resident called police at 6:20 p.m. Dec. 8 to report someone applied for a Small Business Loan using their personal information. There is no financial loss at this time.A Chicago resident reported at 6:51 p.m. Dec. 8 that someone used their bank debit card to make four separate purchases at a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive. Total reported loss is $1,570.A resident in the 2400 block of Swainwood Drive called police at 9:32 a.m. Dec. 9 to report someone made multiple unauthorized purchases from their Amazon account. The purchases were shipped to addresses in Florida and North Carolina. There is no reported financial loss.A Lilly Lane resident reported at 2:58 p.m. Dec. 14 that an unknown person withdrew $148 from their bank account from an ATM in Champaign.There were 41 reported identity thefts between Dec. 8-14 related to the ongoing Illinois Department of Employment Security identity theft fraud.THEFT A manager of a business in the 800 block of Waukegan Road reported at 10:24 a.m. Dec. 7 a male stole a small glass trophy from a desk in the lobby at 2:15 p.m. Dec. 7. Total reported loss is $50.A resident in the 2000 block of Valley Lo Lane called police at 8:52 p.m. Dec. 11 to report receiving a phone call from an individual who claimed to be from Xfinity. The caller convinced the resident to purchase eBay gift cards in order to receive a discount on a cable bill. Total loss is $330.TRESPASSING Police issued trespass warnings at 12:12 p.m. Dec. 10 to two people using metal detectors at Jackman Park, 1930 Prairie St. BURGLARY The owner of a business in the 1700 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 10:20 a.m. Dec. 13 someone stole money from the cash register and the office sometime during the overnight hours. A computer was damaged also. Total reported loss is $5,220. HARASSMENT BY ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION DEVICE A Pfingsten Road resident called police at 11:59 p.m. Dec. 13 to report receiving threatening and unwanted text messages and telephone calls from an unknown person. BURGLARY FROM A MOTOR VEHICLE An employee reported at 1:15 p.m. Dec. 14 parking their work truck in the parking lot of 1513 Winnetka Road at 1 p.m. When they returned to the truck, multiple pieces of equipment were found to be missing. Total reported loss is $5,000.
