Golf course recommendation in or around Scottsdale?

My wife and I are coming to Scottsdale in early April. We're members of Club Corp so have reservations set for a couple of their courses there. We typically play those courses because of the reciprocal privileges between our club in Colorado and the clubs in Arizona. But we would like to play a nice non-Club Corp course not too far (45 min or less) from where we are staying in N. Scottsdale. Looking for recommendations to a course that is in great shape, scenic, perhaps a 'hidden gem' if there is such a thing. There are soooo many courses there and without some local input it is difficult to decipher the really nice ones from the mediocre. We would appreciate your recommendations.
