Casten, Ives Break $1M In Contributions In Third Quarter: Report

ILLINOIS — Incumbent Rep. Sean Casten (D, IL-6) and Republican challenger Jeanne Ives have both raised more than $1 million in campaign contributions in the year's third quarter, according to Northwest Herald. Libertarian challenger Bill Redpath raised just under $3,600. The bulk of both Casten's and Ives's quarterly contributions came from individual donors. Another large contribution for the Ives campaign came from Sen. Ted Cruz's Cruz 20 for 20 Victory Fund, which donated $71,500 in the third quarter. Casten's campaign received $10,500 from Rep. Lauren Underwood's (D, IL-14) Underwood-Casten Joint Victory Fund. Casten received more than $96,000 from political action committees, including the Planned Parenthood Action Fund and a group that advocates for gun control. Ives received more than $61,000 from political action committees, which include the Illinois Citizens for Life and the National Rifle Association of America Political Victory Fund. Freshman lawmaker Casten unseated former Rep. Peter Roskam (R) in 2018 to earn his seat in the House of Representatives. Ives, known for her conservative stances, ran an unsuccessful bid for governor against Bruce Rauner for the 2018 election. Rauner subsequently lost to Gov. J.B. Pritzker. More via Northwest Herald
