ANAHEIM, CA — When will Downtown Disney reopen? Disney officials are evaluating the guidance provided this week by Gov. Gavin Newsom and the Orange County Board of Supervisors and Health Care Agency, they tell us. According to Disney officials, there has not been a decision on a reopening date for Downtown Disney at this time. Disneyland Resort and Downtown Disney both closed to the public during the coronavirus shut down in March. Over six weeks later and after the most extended closure in park history, fans expect to return to the Salt & Straw and Splitsville Luxury Lanes, not to mention the Disney Dress Shop and Disney Home Store. "We will continue to have discussions with our operating participants about how and when we can reopen Downtown Disney in a responsible and phased manner," they tell us. Gov. Newsom approved the county's reopening plan for indoor dining and shopping on Saturday. The Disneyland Resort, after careful review of all the new guidelines and restrictions, will determine a reopening plan and hope to reopen sometime in mid-June. Disneyland Resort, along with other resorts, will be able to open in phase 3. Restaurants at Downtown Disney include Ballast Point Brewing Co., Earl of Sandwich, Jamba, Sprinkles, Splitsville Luxury Lanes, Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes, Naples Ristorante E Bar, Catal Restaurant, Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, Taqueria at Tortilla Jo's, Uva Bar & Cafe. Stores, such as the Wonderground Gallery, The Void, The Lego Store, and more are also in a state of shutdown at this outdoor mall, as are Disney run stores such as Disney Home, Marceline's Confectionery at Downtown Disney, the Disney Dress Shop, and the World of Disney. The Disneyland Resort has promised not to rush the reopening, as the "safety and well-being of our guests, cast members, and third-party operating participants" will be at the forefront of all planning. According to the theme park, reopening is "not just a matter of flipping a switch," as park spokesperson Mike Lyster told the Orange County Register. The park will train all personnel on new health and safety protocols.
