An award ceremony to celebrate our alumni's achievements and commitment to the Latinx community.
Every year, LLSA hosts the Alumni Awards in an effort to celebrate the accomplishments of our exceptional Latinx alumni and friends of the law school. We recognize lawyers whose contributions and achievements in the legal community embody principles of standing for excellence and reaching for justice; who work to foster justice and promote equal representation in the legal system; and whose mentoring, advocacy, and support has contributed to the growth of the organization. This year, we will be awarding three lawyers that have demonstrated the principals LLSA stands for. Judge Bernard Veljacic will be receiving La Justica award; Javiera Wood will be receiving the Spirit of Service award; and Professor Gillian Dutton will be receiving the Latinx Amicus award.
At the same time we recognize students who are on the same path as those alumni. Scholarships are given to recipients chosen by a committee of professors looking for exceptional students. At the Alumni Awards, we recognize these students and, with the help of our mentor organization, the Latino/a Bar Association of Washington (LBAW), raise funds for the exceptional students to come.
Don't miss out on a keynote address from Chief Justice González.
