Mitch Woods and His Rocket 88s are a rock-a-boogie band, taking inspiration from the great jump n’ boogie outfits of the late 40s and early 50s like Louis Jordan, Wynonie Harris and Roy Milton. See them live at Almost Famous Wine Lounge, an award-winning, new tasting room and venue located on Vasco Road in the heart of Livermore's wine, spirits and brewery district. Almost Famous Wine makes fifteen wines in diverse styles, and earned 26 top industry awards since our debut in 2022. Outside food is welcome, but only AFW wine can be consumed on premise. Taking their inspiration from the great jump n’ boogie outfits of the late 40s and early 50s, they breathe fresh life into the music that gave birth to rock n’ roll. Woods styled his group after the jumpin’ n’ jivin’, shoutin’ n’ honkin’, pumpin’ n’ poundin’ bands of Louis Jordan, Wynonie Harris, Joe and Jimmy Liggins, Amos Milburn, and Roy Milton.
