GENEVA, IL — Geneva District 304 on Friday put out a call to students and their family members: Let us know if you test positive for the coronavirus. In a letter to families, superintendent Kent Mutchler asked parents to call to the attendance line for their child's school if a person in their household tests positive for the COVID-19 virus. Families have also been asked also contact their child's school if the student was in close contact with a confirmed case of the virus or told to quarantine. Mutchler said information about coronavirus cases will be used to make planning and safety decisions in schools. Following the three Ws, he said, is the best way to prevent the spread of the virus: wear a mask, wash your hands, watch your distance. The district plans to return to an in-person and hybrid learning model on Jan. 4, Mutchler said. Any chances to that plan will be announced by Dec. 30. "While right now, we are not seeing indicators that would change our plans, we continue to ask for your flexibility," the superintendent wrote. "Thank you in advance for your continued grace and partnership in the new year, so that we can continue to achieve our goals to serve students. "
