Geneva Resident Suffers Minor Burn In House Fire: Officials

GENEVA, IL — A Geneva resident suffered minor injuries Friday morning when their home on the city's west side caught fire, according to fire officials. The Geneva Fire Department responded just after 7 a.m. Friday to a blaze in the 1000 block of Garden Avenue, after a homeowner reported their house was filling was smoke, according to a news release. Firefighters were met with "heavy flames" at the back of the home, and officials called for additional resources and manpower, the release states. The Geneva Fire Department — with support from Batavia, St. Charles, Elburn West Chicago, North Aurora and Fermilab fire departments — put out the flames in about 45 minutes, but the home was deemed to be uninhabitable, officials said. The family living at the home escaped, but one person was treated for a minor burn at the location of the fire, the release states. RECENT STORIES: Kane Co.
