Space Coast - Heroes On the Water - Castaway Point Park, Palm Bay, Florida Happy to serve our Veterans and First Responders (HEROES) in Brevard County and the surrounding areas. Targeted fish are snooks, trout, reds, snapper, and multiple other smaller panfish. Plenty of Dolphins and Manatees to see in the area. This event will be held at Castaway Point Park, Palm Bay Florida. Parking is a premium, so get there early. Parking will be first come serve. Expect to see our Heroes On the Water banner. This is public park with beach access so please be considerate. HOW TO GET THERE: Event address: Castaway Point Park 2990 Bay Blvd NE Palm Bay, FL 32905 Travel north or south on I-95 until you reach Exit 176 towards Palm Bay (Palm Bay Rd.). This exit is where the Bass Pro Shops and Harley Davidson dealer is. Travel east on Palm Bay Rd NW and travel for 4.7 miles. At the intersection turn left onto Dixie Hwy NE. Travel 0.2 miles and turn right onto Bay Blvd NE; you will see a light blue sign for the park and a kayak launch sign. Travel 0.1 miles into the park. Send any questions through Facebook Messenger or email at [email protected] RULES: HOW events are *** DRUG-FREE and ALCOHOL FREE *** HOW events are *** Family Friendly*** HEROES & guests are NOT allowed to be on/in a kayak(s) during the event without a designated HOW guide or required safety equipment. Everyone MUST wear your personal floatation device (PFD) the entire time while you are on/in the kayak. Food and drinks will be provided; however, you are welcome to bring your own snack/food/drinks if you have special needs/preferences. Bring a lawn chair or something to sit on since many of our locations are primitive and may not have a place to sit. As a precaution, we suggest you bring a dry set of clothing, since this is water related event, and we never know about the weather & tides. Since we can never tell the weather or the tides, the environment could change our event. Please be on time. If you are going to be late or decide not to attend the event, please message the Leadership Team via the Facebook Messenger. We want to ensure we provide a kayak to other who may be on a wait list. HOW’s mission is to help our HEROES to relax, rehabilitate, and reintegrate into society through kayak fishing, spending time in the outdoors, networking and building comradeship with other HEROES.
