PALM DESERT, CA — A contractor for Coachella Valley Water District is installing new nonpotable water pipeline and paving along Eldorado Drive in Palm Desert for turf irrigation on four additional golf courses in the city, and motorists will experience traffic delays in the area, the CVWD announced Friday. Construction hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in March. During that time, southbound Eldorado Drive lanes will be closed; closures are marked and southbound traffic will be rerouted to the northbound lanes where one lane will be open in each direction, according to the CVWD. The project will connect four more golf courses — Bermuda Dunes Country Club, Oasis Country Club, Palm Desert Resort Country Club and Woodhaven Country Club — to the new nonpotable water pipeline for irrigation. "This will allow the courses to reduce their reliance on groundwater for turf irrigation by using NPW that includes canal water and recycled water, help prevent overdraft of the aquifer, and increase the ability to CVWD to balance the supply of water with demand," according to the CVWD. Construction will be moving west along Hovley Lane East and is expected to reach CVWD's largest water reclamation facility on Cook Street in May, according to the water district.
