Hey y'all, we're @theunlimitedstars and we host a free experimental music event every second Wednesday of the month at the Carousel Lounge. As a spectator, that's really all you need to know - just show up with an open mind and have a great time.. if you're a musician/comedian/dancer/visual artist/entertainer of any sort interested in beta testing a new idea live please read on below and free to reach out to us on FB or IG for booking. BACKGROUND: Austin boasts a new, thriving tech/biotech community (which is how The Unlimited Stars ended up here). The origin of the Art & Sound Music Factory concept is derived from tech development strategies and values which we believe could significantly benefit the local artist community. While the Austin music scene is diverse and competitive, many artists privately lament a lack of community support. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of the Art & Sound Factory Event is to support YOUR act and facilitate YOUR performance development. We understand that in order to put together an extraordinary performance, we must allow ourselves the chance to take extraordinary risks – which may not always turn out as you expect. However, these unexpected results (sometimes called failures) are likely to yield invaluable data that will inform your next approach and improve future outcomes. Furthermore, certain approaches that may work in the comfort of your routine rehearsal space may not reflect actual live performance conditions. Therefore, the aim of this event is to provide a space for experimentation of new ideas in a live setting. The core ethos of this event is to facilitate trying, failing and trying again as you take another brave step towards building your unique, outstanding, polished performance. This is what we do in tech – try and fail and try again until things like lightbulbs, airplanes and life-saving drugs are born. OUR ASK TO YOU: please attempt to embrace this ethos if only this once in your life, just for this night. THE PURPOSE OF THIS EVENT IS TO BETA TEST YOUR NEW PERFORMANCE IDEA WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT ‘WORK’ THE POINT OF THIS NIGHT IS FOR YOU TO GAIN INSIGHT INTO YOUR ART Use this event to DARE to take your performance to somewhere it has never gone before.. DEFINITION OF A BETA TEST: a beta test is a field test (Carousel Lounge is the field) of the beta version of a product (beta version is a new/untested aspect of your live performance) that is conducted prior to commercial release (release as in your future important gig in front of potential labels or fans at a larger venue like ACL live or the Mohawk). EXAMPLES OF WHAT TO TEST: Do you or your band want to beta test a new aspect of your performance which may include: new choreography? new patches? new collaboration? new backing tracks? new visuals? new ways to engage the audience? musical improvisation? WHAT WE DO: Contact us and we'll help you set up your beta test experiment as well as collate feedback from the audience (if desired) at the Art & Sound Factory. While we prioritize music performance collaboration, we are open to booking short sets from a wide range of performers (comics, visual artists, dancers, musicians) and encourage cross-collabs (example: dancers and musicians working together on an act). Performing artists are sponsored by local businesses (usually gift cards or recording studio discounts) obtained exclusively for you by the The Unlimited Stars (TUS). TUS also provides sound guy Nick, as well as a limited amount of 3$ bottled beer, free pizza & good vibes. Photos and social media policy: ARTISTS RESERVE THE RIGHT to request no photos or videos and this policy will be strictly enforced by our crew. However, we realize much of our daily interaction is via avatar and social media platforms, so acts are also welcome to ask for help in documentation/filming for either their own personal use for promotional use at their discretion.
