FRANKFORT, IL — A Harvey man was charged with two counts of criminal damage to property after he broke the windows to two businesses in unincorporated Frankfort early Monday, the Will County Sheriff's Office said. Martin Blossom, 19, was booked into the Will County Adult Detention facility on June 1 and was set to appear in court Tuesday. Will County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Kathy Hoffmeyer said deputies responded after an alarm went off at the vape shop Happy Daze, 7657 W. St. Francis Road, at 3:54 a.m. Monday. Deputies were also assisted by Frankfort Police Department and made a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle on Frankfort Square Road. Police spoke to four people inside the car, while officers also responded to Happy Daze, Hoffmeyer said. Officers arrived at the business to find the front window broken out, and the front window of Bootleggers Liquors, 7705 W. St. Francis Road, was also broken. Nothing was stolen from either business, police said. Police spoke to all four people in the car, and arrested Blossom. Hoffmeyer said the other three in the car told police Blossom had been angry about the death of George Floyd and what was going on in Minneapolis. According to police, the three said Blossom saw plans for vandalism on social media and believed it was a good time to "get some free stuff." When police made the traffic stop on the suspicious vehicle, Hoffmeyer said they saw a guitar inside the car as well as several pieces of glass. After interviewing the four people, police found that Blossom had used the guitar to break the windows of the businesses. Video surveillance from the business showed Blossom and one other person outside the front of the business and showed Blossom breaking the glass with the guitar, Hoffmeyer said. The other two people stayed in the car, and told police they did not want to be involved. Only Blossom has been charged so far, but Hoffmeyer said the person who stood outside the business with Blossom could also face charges.
