Bend OR

Description

I taught myself trombone during the lock-downs. You may ask yourself, 'Why?' I ask myself that too, but I did and I love it and here we are. Ideally I'm looking for chill and patient musicians to join and put something interesting together with. Musicians who treat it seriously, but aren't expecting perfection. I'd love to play confidently with you pros, but right now that would probably be punching above my weight. I'm also open to brass quartets, trios, or whatever. I don't think that I could play lead on some pieces right off the bat, but I could settle into something at the bottom of the music (and only get better from there). I haven't taken a lesson (yet). I learned this thing between YouTube videos and brute forcing sheet music. I've gotten decent, but I have reached some sort of plateau playing to an empty house and my cat's yowling. I'm in no way an expert, but I'm dedicated, learn my part, and give creative projects my all. In the world of the horn I dig the greats: JJ Johnson, Melba Liston, Wycliffe Gordon, Jackie Teagarden, Fred Wesley, &c. And though I can play some of their parts (and jazz/funk trombone is a longer term goal) I was looking for something simpler to ease into. Basically somewhere in between the Taxpayers, Asking for it, and Streetlight Manifesto (but slower); Nothing too technical or overwhelming; Maybe with a lo-fi flare. Does that kind of thing even exist around here? About me, late 20s, writer, easy company. Lived around the world. Some minor experience with songwriting (minor being the operative phrase). Bend was always a pit stop for me along the path of my travels, and since I've been spending more time here recently meeting some good people to vibe with creatively would be welcome; If its you, hmu.
