Description
First and foremost, any loose dog is the fault of the owner who failed them by not paying attention. Not assessing the risk or likelihood a dog will bolt or even be taken while their cars are running.
But what do you do when they are killed by the help? Paya the Jindo lost her life approximately 2 years ago to the date, because some "dog rescue volunteers" were reading the pamphlet upside down I guess. Jindo are a Korean breed of dog known for their intelligence, sly nature, and fast wits about them. Instead of having a trap laid down at an area location, one woman took it upon herself to open the car door in front of a dog. The dog was hit and run by a passing driver and died on the scene. The owner was in the vicinity but somehow missed reaching their dog.
However the public listing at Lost Dogs of King County on Facebook is still searchable. Please, if you have a will to chase a fleeing dog, now is the time to retire. Trust us, the pet community will be fine without people wrangling dogs.
It always had been.
Remembering Paya, the dog that was lost, but tried the patience of others in being lost and in so cost her her very life.
