Description
Last year my family took in a doggo in need of a safe home, just to get him into a healthy, non-abusive situation. We got him neutered and up to date on his shots, and he has been living his best life here in the country. We are very fond of him, but it was never meant to be a permanent solution. His name is Randy, and he is 90 pounds of love. He is amazing with kids, goats, cats, caged animals, but not so much the UPS man (seriously, he will see the big brown truck down the road and go nuts…if you get a lot of deliveries you might want to think twice). He is also not stellar with other doggos. We do have another dog that gets beaten up by him if he’s activated (like when he sees the mailman). He would prefer to be the only dog in the house, but would love kids to play with.
Randy is such a sweet, lazy boy, who often thinks he’s a hoo-man and will bury himself in your blankets. He’s about 4 years old we think.
He is trained to wear a wireless fence collar (not included but can be purchased from petco or Amazon and very worth the expense). Also crate-trained and fully housebroken, not picky about food, drinks from the toilet over a water dish (he likes cold water) and loves peanut butter.
One other caveat: he needs to be fully sedated to have his nails clipped. Like, paralyzed. Luckily his nails grow fairly slowly, so we do this every 6 months, because the medication gets expensive. But he is a good boy who is so worth the cost.
I hope someone out there in cyber-world is looking for a loving companion to add to their home. I want so desperately for him to find a forever home with a kind family. We would keep him but we are just not meant to be a multiple-dog family. It’s just not for us. But that’s not Randy’s fault. Please reach out with any questions and I’d be happy to chat!
