Kansas City Celebrates Completion Of Ne 104th St. Improvements

Press release from the City of Kansas City: June 19, 2020 Neighbors, city staff and project contractors on Friday cut a ceremonial ribbon to celebrate completion of roadway improvements on NE 104th Street. The project was designed to replace a narrow bridge, improve safety and add complete streets improvements. The nearly one-mile long project was upgraded from a half mile east of 291 Highway to the Liberty City Limits. Improvements started in March 2019 and wrapped up in late spring 2020. "Progress as promised!" said Heather Hall, first district councilwoman. "These improvements have been a long time coming and will go a long way in improving safety for everyone in the area, but especially students getting to and from school." Additional improvements included widening the pavement, adding curb, gutter, a shared-use path and sidewalks, improving intersections and drainage, replacing the existing bridge west of N. Willow Avenue, and adding retaining walls and landscaping. Funding for the project was provided by the Shoal Creek TIF. Get more information on the NE 104th St. Improvements project.
