From the City of Kansas City: October 20, 2020 You are invited to share your concerns and ideas to improve access, fairness and trust at the Kansas City, Missouri Municipal Court. These virtual conversations will take place: Tuesday, Oct. 27, 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. The events are free but you must register to receive the Zoom meeting link by going to KCMO.gov/speakeasy. All participants need to log in 15 minutes early to help ensure we start on time. Attendees may be eligible for a $25 VISA gift card for participation. Only one participant and gift card per registration. If you attend both sessions, you will receive a single gift card at the first event completed. Community Conversations with Municipal Court are part of a larger effort by the National Center for State Courts and the University of Nebraska Public Policy Institute to develop an engagement model for other courts to follow. The Kansas City, Missouri Municipal Court is one of only six courts chosen for the pilot project aimed at improving court-community trust. As part of this effort, Municipal Court also conducted a court-user survey, held three public engagements last November at community centers and a youth engagement session in February with students at Southeast High School.
