Description
We’re looking for a Porter to clean and set up for Events. You will serve as the first point of contact for vendors loading into the space. Porter responsibilities include moving furniture, fixing minor issues (like changing light bulbs) and cleaning building areas, including entrances. To be successful in this role, you should be able to self manage various tasks on a daily basis in a timely manner to ensure a great client experience and help our operations run smoothly. This position requires shift work with occasional weekends and evenings.
Typical duties include:
• Clean all common areas including the event space, bathrooms and storage areas
• Clean and maintain event space entryways
• Change light bulbs as needed
• Prepare and set up event space as indicated on event map, including but not limited to; setting up tables and chairs, moving large rugs, setting up band stage
• Place safety hazard signs in the building (wet paint, wet floor, etc.) when required
• Monitor, clean and restock washrooms
• Respond to spills or other cleaning issues
• Remove trash at the end of the shift
• Order cleaning supplies for facility maintenance
• Answer questions to the best of your ability
• Direct vendors loading in rentals, florals and lighting, if they need assistance
Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Must have proof of Covid-19 vaccination
• 1-2 years porter or custodial experience
• Able to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends
• Must be reliable, professional and timely
• Friendly and attentive
• Good communication skills
• Must be able to lift and move heavy items up to 75lbs
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
