Join us in front of Orlando City Hall to demand climate action during the next Fridays For Future global climate strike on March 25! Join us in front of Orlando City Hall on March 25th from 1:30-3:30pm to demand climate action! We will have signs and join together in chants before hearing speakers share their stories. The theme of this global climate strike is #PeopleNotProfit. The catastrophic climate scenario that we are living in is the result of centuries of exploitation and oppression through colonialism, extractivism and capitalism, an essentially flawed socio-economic model which urgently needs to be replaced. The demands of Fridays For Future Orlando are for Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) to put people before profit by cleaning up their toxic coal ash and halting plans for all new fossil fuel projects, specifically fracked gas. We want the $50 million that OUC plans to invest in a transition from coal to fracked gas to instead be invested in clean energy, storage, and energy efficiency, with climate justice for communities at the forefront. The current demands of the overall Fridays For Future movement are: 1. Keep the global temperature rise below 1.5 °C compared to pre-industrial levels. 2. Ensure climate justice and equity. 3. Listen to the best united science currently available.
