Description

Celebrate the book release of Consider The Octopus! Join us Tuesday, April 5th at 7-9 PM, to celebrate the book launch of Consider The Octopus! Gae Polisner, a local Northport author, is excited to share her seventh novel written for young readers and also for those who are young-at-heart. Consider The Octopus follows the story of Jeremy Barnes, a twelve-year-old boy, who is unexpectedly forced to spend the summer aboard a research ship called the Oceania II. It is the last place he wants to be and to make matters worse the ship is anchored near the Great Pacific Garbage Patch which is located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Hilarity and adventure ensue as Jeremy is assigned different tasks to complete. When he holds an emergency summit onboard the Oceania II, he requests the presence of all the top global scientists. But instead of emailing Ph.D. marine biologist Dr. Sidney Miller, he sends a request to Sidney Miller. She's a twelve-year-old girl who loves science and she quickly accepts his invitation so she can get out of going to summer camp. What started as a disaster for Jeremy, may just end up being the beginning of something wonderful! Kirkus Reviews, an American book review magazine, called Gae's writing "superlative" and Consider The Octopus an "inspiring tale of friendship and conservation." At the event, Gae will do a brief reading followed by a Q&A, and she will also sign copies of her latest book. Consider The Octopus can be purchased the night of at Nest of Main, 135 Main St. Northport. Cake and beverages will also be served! Celebrate the Release of Consider The Octopus is FREE, but seating is limited. Sign up as soon as possible through Eventbrite.
