Learn how to disagree productively and learn from others by participating in a series of candid conversations about controversial topics. "This activity is a group favorite! At this month's in-person social, we'll learn how to disagree productively by participating in candid conversations about a number of controversial topics to learn from others and develop more accurate and nuanced perspectives. First, we'll go through best practices on how to disagree productively, following the guidelines linked below. Then, we'll provide a list of controversial statements and participants will fill out their position on each topic. Finally, we'll split up into rotating small groups to discuss these topics, preferably the ones where there is the largest disagreement. We guarantee you will learn a lot from your fellow discussion partners and think more deeply about important topics. After about an hour of discussion, we'll regroup, discuss any takeaways, and participants will be free to socialize for the rest of the night.
