Accountability and an atmosphere for writing. One-on-one support available. See details below. This event is open to Georgia State University graduate and Honors College thesis students.The Write-In is a four-day workshop designed to give graduate students group accountability and an atmosphere for writing to aid in the completion of a thesis, dissertation, prospectus, or manuscript for publication. Lunch time discussions with speakers will focus, not on discipline-specific content, but on general issues of writing productivity, citation management and data management. Students will also have the opportunity to meet with a writing consultant for individualized assistance. With the ultimate goal of help students to: 1. Making progress on research writing which is more focused and efficient 2. Protecting or ‘quarantining’ time for your research writing, away from distractions 3. Building a sense of community around writing 4. Increasing motivation and confidence in their ability to set a goal and achieve it. In-person Daily Agenda 8:45am – 9:00am Sign-In, Visit the Goal Wall – Record Daily Goal(s) 9:00am – 12:00pm Writing Time (3 hrs.) 11:50am PM ½ Day Group Arrives 12:00pm – 1:00pm Lunch & Learn Group Discussion with Guest Speakers 1:00pm – 1:15pm Debriefing Group 1 – Goals, Challenges, Questions, Plans for Next Day AM ½ day group only 1:00pm – 4:00pm Writing Time (3 hrs.) 4:00pm – 4:15pm Debriefing Group 2 – Goals, Challenges, Questions, Plans for Next Day Full & PM ½ Day Groups I selected the AM or PM 1/2 day option but may have some additional time during the week. May I stay a full-day or a few extra hours on some days? Of course you can! We encourage you to dedicate as much time as possible to writing. Be sure to inform the event organizer of the change in your plans. Will food be provided? Yes. Each day a light morning and afternoon snacks and lunch will be provided. What should I bring to the event? Students are asked to bring their laptop (optional), books, articles and any materials needed to achieve writing goals throughout the week.
