University Artists Series: The Lenwood Slide Syndicate Trombone Ensemble, Jordan Jacobson, coordinator
Dr. Jordan Jacobson and Dr. Emmett Goods of the URI Music faculty will present an evening of jazz trombone featuring new arrangements from Dr. Goods and members of the Lenwood Slide Syndicate - Steve Davis, John Hasselback, James Burton III, trombonists, and trumpeter Joshua Bruneau on flugelhorn. They will be accompanied by URI Jazz faculty David Zinno, bass, Steve Langone, drums and Jay Azzolina, guitar.
This concert is in honor of the four living legends of the trombone that were major influences on members of the ensemble, Slide Hampton, Curtis Fuller, Julian Priester and Grachan Moncur III. Special arrangements of compositions by these four and others will highlight the significance of the trombone in this uniquely African-American art form, Jazz.
