Here are the top five stories today in Sacramento: Sacramento police are investigating reports of a man accused of following women into their neighborhoods and refusing to leave their doorsteps. Videos and photos depicting the man in a gold Nissan Altima have been circulating in neighborhood groups on Facebook and Nextdoor. "We're currently working to try to identify the subject in those photographs, validate that information and the investigation has been assigned to one of our special teams to work on specifically," said Sacramento Police Department spokesperson Chad Lewis. (ABC10) A Sacramento native will have a shot at love in NBC's newest reality dating show"The Courtship." The show will be set in Regency-style English at a real castle in the countryside. From carriage rides to archery and handwritten letters, these dukes are competing while courting their one intended duchess. A group of eligible suitors will vie to win the heart of Miss Nicole Remy and her court, one of those suitors being Nate Shanklin of Sacramento. When he's not on a conquest for courtship, the 34-year-old is an IT recruiter, and he sings. Apparently, his singing is his secret weapon. (KCRA3) A man was sent to the hospital after a fire Thursday evening in south Sacramento. The fire happened at a single-story duplex in the 5200 block of Gordon Drive near Stockton Boulevard and Fruitridge Road around 9:45 pm, according to the Sacramento Fire Department. The fire department said that man is in critical condition. The cause of the fire is unknown. (KCRA3)Shelter dog Dora, who arrived as a stray at the Bradshaw Animal Shelter in 2016, was having a difficult time finding a forever home. Fortunately, shelter staff was so impressed by her high-toy drive that they contacted the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation (NDSDF). The NDSDF is an organization that strengthens disaster response across America by rescuing and recruiting dogs and partnering them with firefighters and other first responders to find people buried alive in the wreckage of disasters. Dora's natural abilities made it clear that the NDSDF made the right choice in bringing her on the team. Six years later, the rescue partner is happy to report Dora is working diligently with the San Diego Fire Department and California Task Force 8 alongside her handler, Joe Zakar, and has truly gone from rescued to rescuer. Good dog, Dora! (saccounty.org)For more than 30 years, thousands of lives have been touched by Sacramento County's Gifts from the Heart program, an annual holiday gift-giving initiative that runs from October until mid-December. In 2021, the program provided gifts to more than 2,500 youth, adults and seniors at an estimated cash value of $152,040. More than 80 individuals and corporate sponsors from businesses, government agencies, service groups and families donate gifts that allow the program to continue.
