EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Evergreen Park police officers found themselves in the unlikely role of delivering United States Postal Service packages found in Evergreen Park alleyways. The latest spate of "found" mail follows on the heels of 19 shipping envelopes from retailers that should have been delivered to residents in Evergreen Park tossed in a trash bin in Mount Greenwood. Around 6:30 p.m. Dec. 8, Evergreen Park police were called to the 10200 block of S. Homan Ave. for a report of found property. A resident told police she found four USPS packages in the alley next to her garage. Police said the packages were sealed and addressed to Evergreen Park residents, so officers delivered the packages to the addressees. >>> Mt. Greenwood Woman Finds 19 Postal Service Packages In Trash The next day, Dec. 9, around 6:35 p.m., police received another call of found mail. This time, three USPS packages were found in the alley behind a home in the 10200 block of South Spaulding Avenue. The packages were sealed and addressed to both Evergreen Park and Chicago residents. The packages were subsequently delivered to the intended recipients. Police turned this information over to the United States Postal Inspector's Office.
