AURORA, IL — A 50-year-old Aurora man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a girl younger than 13 years old, officials at the Kane County State's Attorney's Office said Friday. David M. Krawczyk, of the 700 block of South Eola Road, was convicted of eight counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony. He assaulted the young girl, whom he knew, between January 2016 and June 2017, according to evidence Kane County Assistant State's Attorneys Lori Schmidt and Tyler Cox presented during the trial. "This defendant betrayed this survivor and her family," Schmidt said in a statement. "He purposefully and repeatedly groomed her with sexually abusive behavior while convincing her and others that his criminal conduct was completely normal. She eventually came to realize her abuser's true intentions, which led to the criminal charges against him." The Aurora man faces a sentence of at least 48 years of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections, officials said. In addition to his prison term, Krawczyk is required to register as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act. Kane County Judge David R. Kliment set the man's court appearance for motions and sentencing at 1:30 p.m. May 18. Until then, Krawczyk remains in custody at the Kane County jail, where he is held in lieu of $250,000 bail. The judge revoked Krawczyk's bond upon conviction.
