LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Rain hammered Laguna Beach and much of Orange County overnight, sending debris into the roadway, CalTrans reported. As of 3 p.m. Thursday, CalTrans workers focused on the removal of an unstable boulder on the hillside, extending the lane closure for another 24 hours. That mess in the roadway drew emergency personnel to close one lane in and outbound on Laguna Canyon Road, Thursday morning, according to California Highway Patrol. The City of Laguna Beach alerted residents that the roadway in and out of town, around the 1100 block of Laguna Canyon Road, will be closed to one direction each way until Friday morning. "CalTrans is working to clear debris from the roadway," they said. Meanwhile, a flood advisory was in place, according to the National Weather Service. Seek alternate routes through that area if possible until cleanup is complete. At least one inch of rain has already fallen overnight, and an additional one half to one inch of rain is expected, likely to produce minor flooding, the NWS said.Drivers should not enter flooded streets and drainages. Remember, turn around, don't drown!
