Laguna Beach Schools Continue Distance Learning Indefinitely

LAGUNA BEACH, CA – The Laguna Beach Unified School District has announced that distance learning will continue indefinitely in an effort to stop the spread of the new coronavirus and in accordance with recommendations from the governor. The school district made the announcement on Wednesday, referencing comments from California Governor Gavin Newsom that although school building are closed instruction should continue in an effort to ensure students receive a good education through the end of the school year. As a result, all of the campuses in the district will be closed to students for the remainder of the school year. There are a number of logistical issues to figure out, including making sure high school seniors are on track to graduate, options for end-of-year activities including graduation, and college admissions requirements. The school district will continue to provide student lunches on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This includes Tuesday-Friday of spring break (April 7-10).
