LAGUNA BEACH, CA —On Wednesday, the Orange County Department of Education shared tentative start dates for back-to-school in the fall of the 2020-21 school year. Still, no one has a clear picture of what school will look like when the first bell rings for the fall semester. Los Angeles released a detailed manifesto on what constitutes a classroom setting for the 2020-21 school year. The portrait they painted of tiny class sizes, students and teachers wearing masks, and staggered classes, shows a different landscape than when kids left school for good in March 2020. According to the Los Angeles Times report, each of the 23 Los Angeles County school districts will develop its own reopening plan, prioritizing health and safety. Meanwhile, in Orange County, all school districts are waiting for additional reopening information from the state. Still, the department of education released these anticipated start dates for each school district: UNIFIED: Brea-Olinda: Aug. 17Capistrano: Aug. 18Garden Grove: Aug. 24Irvine: Aug. 20Laguna Beach: Aug. 24Los Alamitos (Weaver): July 29Los Alamitos: Aug. 5Newport Mesa: Aug. 24Orange: Aug. 19Placentia Yorba Linda: Sept. 1Saddleback Valley: Aug. 17Santa Ana: Aug. 10Tustin: Aug. 13ELEMENTARY: Anaheim Elementary: Aug. 13Buena Park: Aug. 11Centralia: Aug. 12Cypress: Aug. 12Fountain Valley: Sept. 9Fullerton: Aug. 11Huntington Beach City: Sept. 10La Habra City: Aug. 17Lowell Joint: Aug. 12Magnolia: Aug. 31Ocean View: Sept. 9Savanna: Aug. 10Westminster: Sept. 2HIGH SCHOOL: Anaheim Union: Aug. 12Fullerton Joint Union: Aug. 11Huntington Beach Union: Sept. 2The "anticipated" start dates may change between now and the first day of school, and each parent should follow their district for the most recent information.
