For those community spirited individuals that have always wanted to adopt instead of purchase one of these mini dinosaurs, the opportunity is waiting for you in Ramona. I operate under the umbrella of the 501c3 non-profit San Diego Turtle & Tortoise Society on 1.5 acres. For the past several years I have been in charge of taking in and finding great long term homes for the orphaned sulcatas that come our way. Believe me there are LOTS. You may be surprised at how low maintenance they can be while proving to be a very novel pet.
