LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Laguna Beach Unified School District will say goodbye to Deputy Superintendent Leisa Winston in January as she makes the move to become the Superintendent of Huntington Beach City School District in 2021. According to the Laguna Beach Unified School District Winston has been "instrumental" as Deputy Superintendent of human resources and instructional services. She has aided in the "rollout of distance learning curriculum and planning for how to safely return students to the classrooms," the Independent Reports. According to a report in the Independent, Winston will undergo final approval by the Huntington Beach City School District on Dec. 15. Winston wrote of her departure in an email, saying: "I am appreciative of the opportunity I've had to work with the exceptional team in LBUSD over the last seven years. This district is fortunate to have tremendous community support for the schools, which is so important to the success of our students. I wish nothing but the best to the Board, staff, students, and parents in this special community." Winston will take over for Superintendent Greg Magnuson on Jan. 4.
