Description

I'm a 56-year-old male beginning guitarist (although I've been playing for 30 years!), with a focus on blues (also folk/country/rock/bluegrass). Some of my favorite artists are R L Burnside, Townes Van Zant, Karen Dalton, Bob Dylan, Robert Johnson, Rev. Gary Davis, Lowell George, Bonnie Raitt, Son House, Lightnin Hopkins, Hank Williams, Gillian Welch, Ry Cooder, & Lucinda Williams. (There are many, many more.) I play acoustic and electric, slide in open-G, standard E tuning, mostly just know cowboy chords and basic pentatonic blues scales. I enjoy noodling around. I would like to get a lot better. I would love to find someone else in the same situation, at the same level, hoping to meet up and practice together, learn some new songs and licks. What more can I tell you? I play left-handed, which means unless you play the same way, we're probably not going to be able to play each other's gear. Oh, I also play cross-harp blues harmonica. I would say my skill level at that is about the same as my guitar-playing. Let's call me an "advanced" beginner. But I definitely can keep rhythm, or play a few bluesy wails. And I can play harmonica and guitar at the same time. Anyway, if you're interested in finding a "practice partner" too, please do send me a message and we can talk about it!
