Beautiful Shepherd that was euth-listed needs a home

Layla is looking for her furever home! One month ago, Diamond's Friends pulled this sweet but terrified 3 year old shepherd mix from the Riverside Animal Shelter. She was too afraid to do her freedom walk on her own and had to be carried out of the building. It’s clear Layla has had some serious trauma in her life. She was obviously mistreated and abused, but the progress we have seen her make in the last month is incredible. The more time we spend with Layla, the clearer it is that she wants nothing more than a home where she feels safe and loved. She wants someone she can bond with and look to for direction and stability. We want to find an amazing home for Layla that has the patience to continue her training and build her confidence. She is scared of new people (especially men), but she is working on overcoming her fears. She’s incredibly smart and wants to please. She is housebroken, is fantastic in her crate, knows how to come, sit, and is working on down and stay. Layla’s ideal home would have a secure backyard for her to run around in, no other pets, and either a dog mom or a dog mom and dog dad who are willing to continue working with her to help her be her best self. She is so capable of being an amazing dog and we have seen how great she is once she’s able to settle in and feel comfortable (she plays, hangs out, and wants pets).
