ELMHURST, IL — IC Catholic Prep's volleyball team has earned the Team Academic Award for the 2019-20 season, according to a school news release. This honor is given by the U.S. Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
The award, started in the 1992-93 school year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
"Academic excellence has always been considered a key measurement of success for our program each year," Nancy Kerrigan, the team's head coach, said in a statement. "This award is a testament to these incredible young women who consistently commit to getting it done in the classroom and on the court."
This marks the 27th time in the 28-year history of the award program that the local volleyball program has earned the prestigious honor.
