ELMHURST, IL — In the last week, Elmhurst Hospital has seen a 25 percent drop in the number of coronavirus patients it is treating, according to the latest numbers. As of Sunday, the hospital was caring for 46 patients with confirmed cases of COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, according to the hospital. That is down from 64 a week earlier. Monday's number is the lowest since late October. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 127 people have died from the coronavirus at the facility. The number is up by three from a week ago. Since March, 1,089 patients have been discharged from Elmhurst Hospital following treatment for confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to the hospital. Elmhurst Hospital's patient base covers an area far greater than Elmhurst itself.
