ELMHURST, IL — Four cars were reported stolen in Elmhurst in the last few days.
Two of them were taken from car dealerships, while another was stolen while the owner was going into a restaurant for a short time, police say. Still another person saw his car being taken as he was approaching it in a store parking lot. Here is information from the reports:
A car was stolen from the parking lot about 8 a.m. Sunday at Mariano's grocery store, 678 N. York St. The victim said that when he approached his car, he saw a man inside. The engine started, and his car and another one next to it drove off. They were last seen headed south on Interstate 290. The victim said he had his keys. He was unable to get a description of the suspects because of heavily tinted windows.Police responded to a burglar alarm at midnight Sunday at Napleton Acura, 745 W. Lake St. Officers found a broken glass panel in the service area. A representative of the dealership showed up and discovered a white Acura RDX had been taken from the service area. A video showed two men and a woman enter the service area by kicking the glass panel on the service bay door. They went inside a few cars before entering the unsecured Acura and driving out of the service bay. They arrived in a gray or silver Hyundai Elantra. While picking up a delivery order inside Panera Bread, 108 W. North Ave., a person left his unlocked Honda Accord running with the keys inside. When the victim left the store, his car was gone. The car was later found. Police did not provide more information. A Kia Forte was stolen between Nov. 24 and Dec. 4 from Ed Napleton Kia, 727 W. Grand Ave. No other details were available.
