ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving a downtown fight, a sales transaction gone bad, a garage fire, a computer scam, road rage and fugitives. Here is information from the latest reports: Downtown fight Police responded to a fight in progress shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of South York Street. A man told police that he accidentally broke a glass pane in a restaurant's door. He appeared drunk and suffered an injury to the back of his head. Medics evaluated the man, who refused treatment. No complaints were signed. Police said they were looking for a suspect described as a white man, 25 to 30 years old, 6 feet, 2 inches, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black jacket. Sales transaction gone bad A woman told police she planned to meet with someone to sell her Apple Watch bands and AirPods case about 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Fellows Court. A man walked up to her car and asked to see the items. He then took them and ran away, last seen headed west on St. Charles Road. He was described as black, 16 to 22 years old and heavy-set. Suspicious A resident in the 1000 block of Eldridge Lane told police that three people tried to open her front door, smashed a decorative pumpkin and broke a front window about 5:30 a.m. Saturday. The victim believes a certain person is responsible because they have had problems in the past. A woman said she was walking toward an apartment complex at 160 W. Lake St. about 7 p.m. Friday when she noted an older model, silver sedan with the driver and passenger doors open and its engine running. Two men emerged from between parked cars, approached the woman and asked for money. She ran into an argument and did not witness anything further. No crime was alleged. Violation of bail bond A husband and wife informed police shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday that a suspect came to his house in the 100 block of Elm Avenue in violation of the suspect's bail bond. The suspect had left before officers arrived. Police secured an arrest warrant for the suspect on a charge of violating a domestic violence bail bond. Computer scam A resident in the 500 block of North Kenilworth Avenue told police Friday that she contacted Amazon because she received the wrong product. A suspect contacted her posing as an Amazon employee who was to assist her with the return. He requested remote access to her computer, her Social Security number and her bank account information. The victim provided the information to the suspect. She later learned of a charge to her account. Garage fire Firefighters responded to a garage fire about 2:30 p.m. Friday in the 900 block of Saylor Avenue. The fire is believed to have been caused by hot ashes that had been deposited into a garbage can. Road rage A driver informed police that a man threw a glass bottle at his truck during a road rage incident at noon Friday near Roosevelt and York. A window was damaged. The victim did not wish to pursue charges. Fugitives An officer tried to stop a driver who disobeyed a traffic control device about 4 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of North Route 83. The driver sped away from officers, last seen headed south on Route 83. The case is pending an investigation.A police officer tried to stop a speeding driver shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday near York and Crestview. The car sped away heading east on Interstate 290. Decorations targeted An 8-foot lighted reindeer displayed in a front yard was stolen at 10 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Ridgeland Avenue. Two strings of Christmas lights were cut on Tuesday or Wednesday in the 700 block of Cambridge Avenue. The lights were on a tree in the front yard. Disorderly conduct Daryl Brown, 47, of Downers Grove, was arrested at 10 p.m. Friday at the Elmhurst Police Department, 125 E. First, on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was released on bond. Warrant Vincent Rosinski, 21, of Northlake, was arrested about 6 p.m. Saturday on an Elmhurst Police Department warrant. He was released on bond. According to a police report, he came into the police station to surrender himself. Driving violations Daniel C. Phillips, 32, of DeKalb, was cited about 8 p.m. Thursday at Lake and Grand on charges of no valid driver's license, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and tinted windows. He was released on bond. Justin Jones, 25, of Chicago, was cited about 10 p.m. Thursday at Grand and York on charges of no valid driver's license and driving with only one headlight. He was released on bond.Jeremy J. Jones, 32, of Chicago, was cited at 11 a.m. Friday near McDonald's, 190 E. Butterfield Road, on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and tinted windows. He was released on bond.Nicholas E. Day, 39, of Palatine, was cited about 3 p.m. Friday at Route 83 and Lake on charges of aggravated driving with a revoked license, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on bond.Octavious M. Dandridge, 22, of Joliet, was cited about 10:30 p.m. Friday at Commonwealth and Butterfield on charges of illegal possession of marijuana by a driver and tinted windows. He was released on bond. Jovany B. Barrios, 20, of Chicago, was cited at 8 a.m. Saturday at Indiana and North on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, possession of marijuana by a driver and speeding. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt.
