ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving threats, theft, harassment, a relinquished gun, trespassing, a DUI and driving violations. Here is information from Elmhurst police reports: Threats An employee of King Transmission, 180 W. Grand Ave., told police about 9 p.m. Sunday about unspecified threats from a man after the business had done work on the man's car. An investigation is pending. Theft A total of 77 8-foot-long steel poles were stolen between Sept. 20 and Dec. 15 at York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road. They were stored at the north end of the baseball field. The poles are used during the baseball season as part of an outfield fence.A gray pump was stolen at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday at Elmhurst Memorial Hospice, 855 N. Church Court, which is part of Elmhurst Hospital. An officer reviewed the video and saw the two suspects in dark clothing driving a Ford truck with a scrap metal hauling bed. An investigation is pending.An employee of Cantore Enterprises, 925 S. Route 83, informed police Wednesday that someone stole a check that had been mailed to the company. The check was altered and deposited. Harassment A resident in the 400 block of South Prospect told police Wednesday that her ex-boyfriend had been texting and calling her since she ended the relationship in May. She said she has asked him dozens of times to stop calling her. An officer left a message for the man to stop calling. Relinquishing gun A resident turned in a .22-caliber gun, ammunition and firearm owner's identification card to police Wednesday. They were owned by the resident's deceased father. The items were placed into evidence for destruction. Trespassing Kimberly Martin, 35, of Franklin Park, was arrested shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday at Butterfield and Cadwell on a charge of criminal trespass to a motor vehicle. She was released on bond. According to a police report, an officer saw that Martin was driving a car listed as stolen. Martin admitted she had taken the car and did not return it. Chicago police confirmed it was stolen. DUI Roberta Knighton, 62, of Paw Paw, Mich., was arrested at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at Spring and Butterfield on charges of DUI and improper lane usage. She was released on bond. Driving violations Carlos Martinez, 28, of Chicago, was arrested shortly after midnight Monday at North and Interstate 290 on a Kane County warrant and charges of operating an uninsured vehicle and no registration plates displayed. He was released on bond. Jermaine Rupert, 43, of Bellwood, was cited shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday at Grand and County Line on charges of driving with a revoked license, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, tinted windows, expired registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and unlawful possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle. He was released on bond. Robert Ware, 36, of DeKalb, was cited about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at Melrose and North on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no registration displayed and improper lighting. He was released on bond.Jeremy Edwards, 33, of Geneva, was cited shortly after midnight Tuesday at North and York on charges of driving with a suspended license, disobeying a traffic control device and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on bond.Valentyn Khoma, 19, of Park Ridge, was cited about 9 p.m. Wednesday at North and Willow on charges of false use of identification and tinted windows. The suspect was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
