ELMHURST, IL — An Elmhurst police officer stopped a Des Plaines man early Monday morning in the area of an attempted car burglary, according to a police report. The man was found to be with 10 spools of copper wiring and admitted to stealing them, police said. Jeffrey T. Ronowski, 45, was charged with theft and taken to the police station. He was released on bond. The victim was an electrical contractor, with the theft taking place in the 800 block of South Riverside Drive. Police stopped Ronowski about 2:30 a.m.
